Words of Wisdom:
”Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American… The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people” ~Tench Coxe

2nd Amendment Enforcement Act
Senator Marco Rubio and Representative Jim Jordan introduced legislation that would restore the Second Amendment rights of Washington DC’s citizens. The legislation would force compliance with federal laws regarding firearms ownership and possession. This would allow residents to purchase firearms from outside D.C. without the currently onerous system. It would also ease the path toward a concealed carry licnese.
“For years, the District of Columbia has infringed on its residents’ Second Amendment rights and rendered them vulnerable to criminals who could care less what the gun laws are. This legislation will finally allow D.C.’s law-abiding residents and visitors access to firearms for sporting or lawful defense of themselves and their homes, businesses and families.” – Marco Rubio
According to Representative Jim Jordan’s website, the legislation would:
- Remove the authority of the D.C. Council to enact persecutory gun control
- Conform DC to federal law governing firearm commerce
- Enable DC residents to obtain firearms from dealers in Maryland and Virginia
- Repeal DC’s onerous firearm registration system
State Attorney argues for Maryland Semi Auto Gun Ban; Says Semi Auto is More Lethal than Full Auto
In arguments for the case Kolbe v. Hogan, Pro-Second Amendment groups challenged Maryland’s Firearm Safety Act of 2013. Challenged were provisions banning modern sporting rifles and magazines capable of holding greater than 10 rounds. The state’s lawyer makes some bold claims. These include that 10 rounds or more have never been necessary for self defense in Maryland, and therefore never would be. He also seems to focus on the notion that semi-automatic fire is more lethal than full auto. This is different than what we are used to hearing from anti’s, as they usually like to focus on the ability of a firearm to spray bullets. You can find the story at Ammoland, along with audio of the hearing. Mike relates to us the extraordinary story of a gun store owner who fired 105 rounds in a span of about 2 minutes, while facing seven assailants.
